In cosmic and cosmogonic matters public wants authority. We project authority by being arrogantly elegant and elitists. These concerned scientists are concerned about things like lead poisining. None of the spacetimes or backgrounds real or virtual that we use in String Theory cause lead poisoning or that we care to calculated such things.
